Bo Sang Umbrella(Parasol) Festival

We had a driver take us outside of Chiang Mai to the Bo Sang Village Umbrella Festival yesterday.
(the Photo in "Us" in front of the blue and yellow car has our driver between John and Denise.
We saw how the parasols are made, mulberry paper, silk ones, painting, etc. and were sorely tempted to buy a huge batch and ship them home, but the logistics seem daunting on a trip like this/ not to mention that I might be wondering what to do with 50 small, med, and huge parasols back in DC in a rented house! Every Festival has tons of street peddlars, tiny shops, sidewalk "shops", sidewalk food "restaurants", so much for sale at very little Baht, but overwhelming to sort through visually and thoughtfully sometimes. Our trip just gives us enough time for a general feel or overview, but it is all enlightening.

Those are so beautiful! Why do I have the feeling that if we had a little girl the temptation to buy a ton and send them home would have won out? ha.

It was so hard to decide because the pics don't even show the best ones......but everthing is more overwhelming when you are here in the midst of it all... there are so many incredible Wats/temples all around us in Chiang Mai and each one has some special aspect ... Last one we walked to this morning before flight to Laos had a Buddhist carving school in the Wat and I have pics of Master Carver and his work.
