One of the 300 Temples in Chiang Mai

Wat Chiang Man is the oldest temple complex in Chiang Mai. We walked over to it Saturday morning and took our shoes off to enter the main Buddhist temple where monks were having a ceremony. There were people sitting in front of the gold Buddha and offering flowers, garlands and incense and fruit and then praying with the monks. We sat in back, with our feet carefully pointing to away from the Buddha (pointing a foot at any image of the Buddah would be a terrible insult, as would touching anyone's head, it goes on..)
Lot's of people are very devout and you can see small spirit houses everywhere in front of shops, houses, business, schools, everything...... all unique and all with offerings of flowers to soda pop with a straw...
