Thoughts on travel

Coming home is comforting. No flights or hotel reservations to confirm, no new currency to understand, no new expressions to learn, no orienting ourselves in a new city. It would be easy to settle back into a routine. But I don't want to do that. My "routine" has been shaken up forever.

How about thoughts from 2 very different men? Henry Miller says, "One's destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things."

Saint Augustine writes, "The world is a great book. They who never stir from home read only a page."

Thanks for reading. Stay tuned for our next adventure...

Not too late to take up travel writing. Easier to sell than condos???

You are filled with the fervor of a true traveler, Denise! Do you read any?

Hey Terry,
Right now anything would be better than condos. I think I am a gypsy. I'm off to NYC in 10 days. You understand the significance of that.

Hey Julie - to answer your question:
NYC was a 20 minute bus ride from our place in NJ. It was part of where I grew up, a sort of coming of age mythical place. It's where I went to Broadway plays in grade school, concerts, bars, and restaurants in high school, and just long walks, and hanging out throughout my youth. Before Boston, it was "the city", and even in college I returned to check in. It was, is? the capitol of the world. All I have to do is listen to that accent, and I know I'm "home" again. But after watching "Paris, je t'aime" last night, I miss Paris. When's the next trip?
